After Trial, Returned Car Kit I did return this item. Overall, it was fine and I did try to use it in my car. I purchased a Onyx Plus radio home kit and I was hoping to use this car kit for my little car. I have limited space in my car and found the kit and its item difficult to use. Part of the problem is due to the poor design for the front driver, center console, and front passenger section of my small car. My car does not have a descent cupholder/center console section for safely securing my SiriusXM Onyx Plus radio with the docking apparatus and all the connections. The connection with the antennae and the dock is very tight with an extended plastic corner extending outward. This makes pulling the antennae connection out difficult. If you can set up Onyx Plus radio-dock and the connections together and just keep it in place, I think the car kit is a great option. For my little car I have to assemble and dissemble the entire system often, so this set-up is not practical for me. If you have a roomier…

Look for alternative…weak antenna to dock connection. I’ve had two of these. It’s a kit with all the goodies you could possibly need to mount your satellite radio in your car in a variety of ways. There is enough antenna wire to reach just about anywhere. However… Both of these kits have had the same problem. The attach point where the antenna wire connects to the radio dock is very weak. After a very short period of use both plugs started coming loose from the dock. I’m constantly loosing satellite signal in both docks, in two different vehicles. The only fix I’ve been able to come up with so far is to bend the plug against the dock and wrap a piece of electrical tape around the plug and dock. That works for a while then it works loose and the problem starts all over again. PITA.So, I don’t know if there are other options, but if there are I’d go with something else. Not recommended.

Design needs to be improved. After buying the dock I started having constant loss-of-signal issues and “Antenna Disconnected or Damaged” alerts would show up on the display. I researched the issue and found numerous complaints about this particular dock. The fix action is to bend the center pin for the antenna cable (inside the dock) so it makes contact with the radio. Sadly you have to do it over and over and over once you start having the issue. They really need to improve this design. I have never had this issue with the dock which came packaged with the radio.
